K-9 Unit
The Rushville Police Department K-9 unit was formed in the early 1970’s. There are currently two K-9 teams employed by the Rushville Police Department. The K-9 teams from the Rushville Police Department attend extensive initial training where they are trained and certified. The K-9 teams attend multiple training courses a month to ensure they are always ready to perform at their best. The certifications and training the teams receive include tracking, patrol work and narcotic detection.

Upon completion of training, the K-9’s and their handlers assist local, county, and state agencies when needed. The current two K-9 teams working for the Rushville Police Department consist of Sgt. Andrew Parmerlee and K-9 Rieks and Officer Corey Brattain and K-9 Reba.
The Rushville Police K-9 Program is made possible by donations from generous local businesses and citizens as well as grants.
The K-9 Unit is a part of the Special Operations Division within the Operations Section of the Rushville Police Department.
