D.A.R.E. Unit
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 and has proven so successful that it has been implemented in thousands of schools throughout the United States and many other countries. The full, compelling story of D.A.R.E can be found here: https://dare.org/history/
The Rushville Police Department has had a long-standing relationship with D.A.R.E. America and the Rush County School Corporation allowing us to provide D.A.R.E. education to 5th grade students throughout the system. This program has been led for many years by Lead School Resource Officer Robert Bridges (rbridges@cityofrushville.in.gov).
