The City of Rushville is nestled between the metropolitan centers of Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Rushville's distance to larger cities is part of its grace and offers the best of all worlds. Running errands is a lunchtime pleasure. All of the amenities are within walking distance. Here residents wake to the quiet morning countryside and close-knit neighbors.
Three major highways, SR#44, SR#3, and US#52 intersect in the city. The population of the city is approximately 6,000 residents.
The city administration includes one mayor, a clerk-treasurer, and a five-member city council. The city has thirteen-member police department, and fifteen-member full-time fire department, a fully staffed street and sanitation department, parks and recreation department and animal control office.
A few of the city's major industries include Copeland Corporation, The Trane Company, INTAT Precision Casting, and Fujitsu Ten America, Inc. Other small manufacturing firms also enhance our community. The city has an additional 270 acres of prime space adaptable for development to accommodate the majority of a company's industrial needs.
The City of Rushville has forty acres of beautifully maintained parks for individual relaxation and recreational enjoyment. The City of Rushville recently opened a $1.2 million dollar outdoor aquatic facility in June of 2000.
The City of Rushville was the political home and campaign headquarters for Wendall L. Willkie, who was the Republican candidate for President of the United States in 1940. Mr. Willkie died in 1944 and his place of burial is the East Hill Cemetery, located one-quarter mile east of Rushville on SR#44.
Rushville is a small, friendly community that can offer individualized attention to its residents and visitors.
